Privacy.

Reclaiming privacy in the digital age isn’t a gargantuan task.

It’s understandable – transitioning from traditional, easy to use services from companies like Google or Meta is the current norm. But given time, you can incrementally replace each and every one of Google and Meta’s services with better, open-source alternatives that do not collect extensive data on their users.

Selfhosted Services

A comprehensive list of my selfhosted services that act as alternatives to useful services that have aggressive data collecting policies. Please do not use any of these services for storing, accessing or distributing illegal data.

SearXNG

  • The SearXNG instance in the header of this site is my selfhosted instance of SearXNG.
  • Tracking, logging and all other unsavory features of search engines that infringe upon personal privacy are disabled.

NextCloud

  • I host my own NextCloud instance for easily accessible cloud storage. Although setting it up was an absolute pain, being able to access files off a storage server without requiring a VPN tunnel to be opened to my home network all the time was awesome.
  • Server has ~2TB space, if you’d like to try out NextCloud yourself, check the blog posts below.

    PsiTransfer

    • Selfhosted instance of PsiTransfer for personal use
    • Nothing is logged. Everything is encrypted upon upload.

MicroBin

  • Got tired of having to be wary of what I paste in pastebins or on Discord.
  • Again, lots of space on server so not concernened about server space.
